Floorway recently completed a Herringbone Parquet Flooring installation for a private villa in Emirates Hills, Dubai. The project involved replacing an ageing floor with premium engineered oak parquet to create a warmer and more modern living space. Below is a detailed overview of the installation process, materials used, and final outcome.
Replacing an Ageing Floor with Herringbone Parquet
The owners of Villa 7, Sector E, Emirates Hills contacted Floorway to replace the flooring in their main living area. The existing floor had been down for several years and was starting to show it, scratches near the seating area, a couple of loose sections near the entrance, and a colour tone that no longer matched the rest of the interior after a recent furniture change. They wanted something more solid and easier to maintain, and after seeing a few sample boards, they went with an engineered oak herringbone parquet.
Our site team visited the villa first to check the existing subfloor and confirm the layout would work with herringbone flooring, the pattern needs a fairly regular room shape to look right, and the living area here was a good fit apart from one alcove near the fireplace that needed a bit of extra planning. Engineered oak was recommended over solid wood mainly because of how the AC runs in most Emirates Hills villas; solid timber tends to shift more with the temperature changes between rooms, while engineered boards hold up better over time.
What Changed
The before photo shows the old floor, worn in the high-traffic spots and a shade that didn’t really go with the rest of the room anymore. After installation, the space reads a lot warmer, and the herringbone pattern gives it more character than a standard plank layout would have. The family mentioned the floor also feels less cold underfoot in the mornings compared to the old one.
